Search history
Big search engines store queries, often linked to your account. In your account settings you can view, pause and delete your history.
YOUR
SEARCH BAR
KNOWS ALL.
Your search bar is a diary you never lock. Pick the suggestion you would most likely tap and see what your pattern reveals about you. And about the companies reading along.
Question 1
WHAT SEARCH ENGINES REALLY KNOW
Autocomplete
Suggestions come from what many people search for and from your own behaviour. So they also reflect prejudice.
Private mode
Only deletes what stays on your device. The search engine and your network still see everything.
Alternatives
Search engines like DuckDuckGo, Startpage or Ecosia promise less tracking. Still read what they store.
YOUR HISTORY
IS PRIVATE.
RIGHT?
Every search tells a story. Decide who reads along: clear your history regularly, pause account tracking, try alternatives.
