ACCESSIBILITY

CULTURE FOR
MORE PEOPLE.

Accessibility is not an add-on, it is design. Here is an honest account of what already works and what does not yet.

Our aim

ReformRebell is a private media project, not a public body. Germany's accessible IT regulation (BITV 2.0) is therefore not mandatory for us. We still follow the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, level AA, because culture and knowledge should be accessible to everyone.

Compliance status

This website is partially compliant with WCAG 2.1 AA. There is no independent audit of the current version. This statement is based on our own tests with keyboard, zoom, reduced motion and screen reader spot checks.

What is in place

  • Semantic page regions and a "Skip to content" link at the top of each page.
  • Keyboard-operable navigation with a visible focus. The "More" menu closes with Escape, and focus stays inside it while it is open.
  • Large touch targets, especially in the tab bar on phones.
  • Labelled form fields, clear error messages and native audio controls.
  • Animations are switched off if your system is set to "reduce motion".
  • High contrast in the black, red and off-white palette; text scales up to 200 per cent.
  • Every page is available in German and English. The DE / EN switch sits at the top of every page and in the "More" menu.

Known limitations

  • The AI chat comes from the external provider Elfsight. We have only limited influence on its accessibility.
  • There are currently no lyrics or transcripts for music tracks.
  • Some interactive games assume quick reading or selecting. There is no time limit, but not every piece of feedback is announced by every screen reader.
  • Some older story images only have generic alt text.

Report a barrier

If something makes access harder for you, tell us. Please name the page, your device or assistive technology, and what did not work. We usually reply within 14 days.

Arbitration

The arbitration procedure under Section 16 of Germany's Disability Equality Act only applies to federal public bodies and does not apply to ReformRebell. If you are not happy with our reply, please write to us again anyway. We take it seriously.
